Focus on my background

I will mainly focus on my background for my blog as I know much more about it compare to my other Pasefika neighbours. I wanted to share everyone about my cultures and values so it will give you an idea or understanding about Samoa. This also help others to understand the Fa’aSamoa (Samoan cultures) cultures so they can share within an early childhood setting that they are working at it. Pasefika is comes from the word Pacific and this word ‘Pacific’ name by the British who went around the pacific and called those region or island ‘Pacific’. There are three groups in the Pacific (Pasefika) which are Polynesia, Melanesia and Micronesia. There are different country that represent Pasefika but they all have their own culture, language and values.
Samoan language is now taught in secondary school and then at university Samoan language is also taught so with in the education system in New Zealand is that they do recognise the Pasefika language and cultures in the education system. (Tagoilelagi-Leota 2012 (Video)). This is show that New Zealand education system do recognise Pasefika language within the system. Children learn from their community, church and their family and they collect their knowledge from these community, family and churches and take it to school and share it with everyone.
