The importance of Pasefika culture and language in early childhood education and my role as a teacher and the role for children in the centre.

In any Pasefika early childhood it is really important to learn abvout the culture and the language. My role as a teacher is to learn the key terms of the Pasefika pedagogies which are  A’o is to learn, to study, Silafia is to know and Atamai is the same as Poto. I have to know the term and termnology of these key words in Pasefika pedagogies so I cane share with the children and the Pasefika early childhood that I am going to work with. I also need to know the culture and speak Samoan language fluently. I already know about my culture and my language so I want to embrace this to other centre apart from my Pasefika centre. And I also want to maintain my mother tongue because it is treasure to me and my family. The role for children in the centre is to get experinece from all different Pasika culture and language and to share what have they already know from their family, community and churches to the centre. In my past practise all centre that I have been to they always have Pasefika resources and language teaching in their centre and because I am from south Auckland where most of the Pasefika community base is that education around here always have Paseka philosophy in their curriculum which is really good for the benefit of Pasefika children. My majoy is main stream and the reason why I want to do main stream is because there are Pasefika children who enrolled to mainstream so I want to teach in a main stream so I can encourage these Pasefika about learning their cultures and language especially Samoan culutres and language.
